Everything your subscription business needs.

Sesamy provides prebuilt components for the full subscriber journey: paywall to checkout to subscription management, with full API access for publishers who want to customise. 80+ publishers run digital, print, and B2B subscriptions on this stack.

01 · Paywalls & checkout

Paywalls that convert. Checkout that closes.

Build and configure paywalls without filing a developer ticket, then run them through a checkout designed for your readers. Vipps, Swish, Klarna, card, and invoice are built in. Publishers moving to Sesamy checkout see a +18% average conversion improvement against their previous stack.

At checkout
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Visa
  • Klarna
  • Vipps
  • Four paywall types, switchable.
Soft walls, hard walls, metered access, and dynamic login walls. Pick per section, per segment, or per campaign.
  • Local payment methods native.
Vipps, Swish, Klarna, card, and invoice. No redirect chain, no third-party gateway, no PCI scope for your team.
  • A/B testing built in.
Run wall type, placement, and messaging experiments from the portal. Results feed the same analytics dashboards as everything else.
  • +18% checkout conversion.
Average lift across publishers who replaced a previous-generation checkout with the Sesamy flow.
  • Prebuilt components for any CMS.
Drop the paywall into WordPress, Labrador CMS, or any other stack via the UI library; customise via the REST API when you need to.
  • PCI DSS handled by Sesamy.
Encryption, tokenisation, and PCI DSS scope all sit on our side. Your engineers never touch a card number.

02 · Subscription management

Contracts, billing, and renewals.

Every subscription operation runs inside one portal: create a plan, bill it, handle renewals and failed payments, run campaigns, let subscribers manage their own accounts. No second tool for dunning, no spreadsheet tracking cancellations, no Jira ticket to launch a seasonal offer.
  • Full subscription lifecycle.
Creation, billing, renewals, upgrades, downgrades, pauses, and cancellations handled in one subscriber record.
  • Flexible pricing.
Fixed, metered, bundled, trial, discount codes, and seasonal offers. Configure once, deploy instantly.
  • Automated dunning.
Retry logic, reminder notifications, and grace periods run automatically. Billogram reconciles failed and recovered payments.
  • Cancel flow with retention offers.
Present pause, downgrade, or discount offers at cancel intent; configure them without code or developer involvement.
  • Self-service subscriber portal.
My Pages lets readers update payment methods, addresses, and preferences. Cuts CS volume without cutting CS quality.
  • Campaign builder.
Launch trials, discounts, and bundles from the portal. Sync audiences out to HubSpot, Mailchimp, Rule, or Mailmojo.

03 · Print fulfilment

Distribution lists, printer integrations, issue-based subscriptions, and missing-magazine reports all live in the same portal as digital. Helthjem handles Norwegian distribution, DI handles Swedish. OCR/KID and Bankgiro flow through Billogram for reconciliation. One subscriber record across print and digital, not two.
  • Distribution list management.
Routes, postal segments, delivery schedules, and subscriber counts managed in the portal by your team, pushed on your cadence.
  • Printer integrations, native or custom.
Helthjem for Norway and DI for Sweden ship as native integrations: distribution files push from Sesamy, delivery confirmations flow back into the subscriber record. Any other distributor plugs in via custom FTP, REST API, or upload flow, and print files are accessible directly in the portal for manual handoff.
  • Issue-based subscriptions.
Fixed issue counts, rolling subscriptions, gift issues, and upgrade-to-digital paths all handled natively.
  • Missing magazine reports.
Readers report missing issues through self-service. Your CS team resolves directly: reship, extend entitlement, or refund (cards and Vipps).
  • Renewal notices by post and email.
Print renewal workflows your Nordic readers expect. Post-first reminders, email fallbacks, OCR/KID references on every invoice.
  • Combined print + digital in one record.
Bundles, upgrades, downgrades, and one billing surface across both surfaces. Finance reconciles one ledger, not two.

04 · B2B subscriptions

Organisational subscriptions that scale.

Multi-seat licensing, domain-based access, SSO with the providers organisations already run (Okta, Microsoft Entra, Google Workspace), and automated invoicing through Billogram. B2B lives in the same subscriber database as individual digital and print subscriptions: one MRR dashboard, one reconciliation, one subscriber record per human.
  • Multi-seat licensing.
Set seat counts per contract. The buying organisation manages allocations: add, remove, or swap seats without a support ticket.
  • Domain-based access.
Approve one or more email domains per contract; every matching employee is auto-entitled. No individual invite list for large organisations.
  • SSO integration.
Okta, Microsoft Entra, and Google Workspace are wired in. Custom SAML / OIDC configurations available via the Developer page.
  • Automated invoicing.
Billogram generates PDF invoices, tracks payments, and reconciles OCR/KID references. No manual invoice runs.
  • Multi-seat reporting.
Usage per seat, renewal dates, revenue per account, seat utilisation. Commercial sees upsell and retention cues in one view.
  • Self-service seat management for buyers.
The buyer’s admin runs day-to-day seat changes; your team sets contract terms. Neither side waits on the other.

05 · Podcasting

Premium podcast for publishers.

Ship premium podcast content as a standalone purchase, as part of a digital subscription, or as a bundle add-on. Private RSS feeds deliver subscriber-only audio to the player the reader already uses.
  • Premium podcast subscriptions.
Sell audio as part of a subscription bundle or as a standalone product with its own price point.
  • Private RSS feeds.
Subscriber-only feeds scoped per-user. Works with Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, and any standard podcast client.
  • Spotify Open Access.
Paywalled podcasts play inside Spotify for subscribers, using the identity Sesamy already manages. No second login for readers.
  • Upsell and bundle paths.
Offer audio as an upsell to digital-only subscribers, or as a bundle component alongside print. Same billing surface, same analytics.

06 · Analytics & reporting

Data your team can act on.

Real-time subscriber analytics across MRR, churn, conversion, and ARPU, with checkout-funnel drop-off and article-level content performance. Editorial dashboards plug into Kilkaya for content reporting; finance teams read ledger-grade revenue views with built-in OSS support. One source, one set of numbers.
  • Real-time subscriber analytics.
MRR, churn rate, conversion rate, ARPU, net-new subscribers, and cohort views update continuously. No overnight export.
  • Checkout funnel analysis.
Step-by-step conversion data across the checkout flow. See where readers drop and why.
  • Article-level content performance.
Per-article conversion and engagement data. Which pieces drive subscriptions, which retain readers, which drive none of the above.
  • Tag, topic, and category breakdowns.
Performance by editorial taxonomy. Works alongside Kilkaya for teams who already run Kilkaya for editorial analytics.
  • Finance reporting with OSS support.
Premade revenue reports, EU OSS VAT handling, and ledger exports. Finance gets numbers that reconcile without a Google Sheet.
  • Churn analysis.
Why subscribers leave, which retention tools (pause, downgrade, discount) work for which cohorts, which paths predict long-term retention.
  • Finance-ready dashboards.
Real-time revenue, churn cost, and payment-status views for finance leads who do not want to open a BI tool.

07 · Identity & authentication

One identity. Every touchpoint.

Fully hosted login: no auth infrastructure to run and no CVEs to patch. Passwordless, SMS, and social login with Google, Apple, and Vipps ship out of the box. Any OpenID-compatible identity provider plugs in via standard flows. Same subscriber identity across digital, print, and B2B under one login.

Social login
  • Log in with Google
  • Log in with Apple
  • Log in with Vipps
  • Fully hosted login.
No auth service to run. We manage uptime, security patches, compliance, and identity UX.
  • Passwordless code login.
Email codes and magic links. No passwords for readers to forget, no password resets for support to handle.
  • SMS verification.
Phone-based account flow for readers who prefer SMS to email, or for markets where SMS is the dominant signup path.
  • Social login.
Google, Apple, and Vipps wired in natively. Readers sign in with the account they already have.
  • Any OpenID-compatible provider.
Plug in any OpenID-compatible identity provider via standard flows, without custom integration work.
  • Single sign-on for multi-brand publishers.
Run multiple brands under one group login so a reader subscribed to brand A can log into brand B with the same credentials.
  • One subscriber identity across surfaces.
A reader is one record whether they hold an individual digital sub, a B2B seat, or a print subscription.

08 · Integrations & API

Prebuilt components. Full API access.

Ship with the prebuilt UI library, customise with the REST API, automate via webhooks. Marketing tools (HubSpot, Mailchimp, Rule, Mailmojo, Kilkaya), CMS plugins (WordPress, Labrador CMS), payments (Stripe, Vipps, Swish, Klarna, Billogram, OCR/KID, Bankgiro), and distribution (Helthjem, DI) are all wired in. A JavaScript SDK covers browser and Node; anything else runs through the REST API.
  • Prebuilt UI components.
Drop-in paywall, checkout, account portal, and podcast player surfaces that work from day one with any CMS.
  • Full REST API.
Every portal action has a REST endpoint. Build bespoke flows when the prebuilt components do not fit.
  • JavaScript SDK.
Works in the browser and Node. One SDK, typed, versioned, documented on the Developer page.
  • Webhooks for every event.
Subscription created, payment failed, plan changed, cancellation requested, and more. Fan out to your own systems.
  • Payment integrations.
Stripe, Vipps, Swish, Klarna, Billogram, OCR/KID, Bankgiro. Customer owns their Stripe and Vipps accounts (see block 9).
  • Distribution and CMS integrations.
Helthjem, DI for print distribution. WordPress plugin and Labrador CMS integration for the CMS side.
  • Marketing-stack integrations.
HubSpot, Mailchimp, Rule, Mailmojo, and Kilkaya sync audiences and event streams without bespoke glue code.
  • EU OSS and VAT compliance built in.
OSS registration handling, cross-border VAT rates, and premade reports to file returns without custom accounting work.
